Giving something back to the NHS

We’re using the Apprenticeship Levy to help train nurses

While supplying NHS England with hardware and network connectivity to support Covid-19 vaccine centres across the country, we realised we were sitting on a great opportunity to give something back. NHS England put us in touch with Health Education England (HEE), which supports health and social employers to recruit and train via apprenticeships. It has been a key part of delivering the target to recruit an additional 50,000 nurses by 2024.

In 2021 we gifted our Apprenticeship Levy for eight nurses, a mix of new starters and specialised retraining. HEE works closely with smaller organisations who do not pay the levy and connected us to GP practices who would benefit by levy transfer to recruit apprentices. This is just the beginning, and we’re investing nearly half a million pounds in apprenticeships with other organisations around the country.

We see this as the beginning of a larger national project to encourage other businesses to use the Apprenticeship Levy to help train new nurses for the NHS, at a time when they need them more than ever.
