O2 launches Samsung Knox Solutions, for Business customers

Neil Hodson, Products & Solutions Manager for Device as a Service at O2, answers your questions about the new Samsung Knox Solutions portfolio.

In the first of two recent posts about new Samsung products for Business, O2 was proud to be the first mobile network operator to directly offer Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) here in the UK – an advanced solution for businesses that require bulk mobile device enrolment and deployment. You can read that post here.

Samsung KME is just one of a number of new Knox service launches, and in this second post we look at four other services that collectively comprise the Samsung Knox Solutions.

What are Samsung Knox Solutions?

In simple terms, Samsung Knox is a highly secure platform built into all new and recent Samsung devices, except the Samsung Tab A 8.0.  It offers a comprehensive suite of device management services for IT administrators to configure, enrol, manage, secure and maintain their Samsung fleet.1

What are the new services?

Once again, O2 is the first mobile network operator to launch these four licence-based device management services that deliver enhancements and capabilities beyond the core Samsung device enrolment solution (Knox Mobile Enrollment: KME).

They are:

  1. E-FOTA – Samsung Enterprise Firmware-Over-The-Air (E-FOTA) enables IT administrators to manage software roll-outs effectively by letting them force updates to device, time control and select   OS updates, security patches and bug fixes before full deployment  to ensure compatibility between in-house apps and new OS versions.
  2. Configure – Knox Configure provides quick and simple device tailoring, enabling IT administrators to configure and deploy devices quickly and remotely, tailoring them to your specific needs. That might mean embedding your company’s brand on a device, including animated boot up screens and personalized business apps. Knox Configure also allows IT admins to take  control of a device, restricting connectivity settings, whitelisting and blacklisting apps and features, and update configurations dynamically via push notifications.
  3. Manage – Knox Manage is a cloud-based Enterprise Mobility Manager (EMM) that provides robust management and comprehensive controls allowing IT managers to monitor and secure devices in real time. Knox Manage can manage any Android, iOS or Windows 10 device, but is most integrated with the Samsung Knox program.
  4. Knox Platform for Enterprise – Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE) is a military-grade mobile solution for IT admins to manage and secure Samsung Android phones and tablets. KPE provides a set of advanced and unique mobile device security management features to the underlying Android OS, for business customers and partners who require higher security standards.
