8 ways we put our people first

Here at O2, we work hard to put our people first. Not just by making sure that they have the right technology to help them work effectively, but through a whole plethora of initiatives, processes and activities. People come top of our internal agenda. Why? Because we truly believe that people are our greatest asset.

And we want to help you put your people first, too. So we’re going to be sharing some tips on how we do it O2-style. Over the coming months we’ll cover the following areas…

1. Finding a fit
We have our own in-house resourcing team dedicated to hiring the right skills, experience and attitude. And we focus on finding the right fit for any vacancy, regardless of gender, sexuality, race or religion.

2. The onboarding experience
You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression, so welcoming new starters into O2 is very important to us. We support managers in helping their new colleague settle into the team and their role as quickly as possible.

3. Effective line management
Our HR team works closely with the line manager community to help them support their teams and drive the best performance. We know that these relationships are key to a successful and fulfilled time at work.

4. Managing talent
We’re lucky to have a huge team made up of thousands of fantastic people. And because they work hard for us, we work hard for them – not only managing their talent, but maximising it.

5. Engaging teams
We have a diverse and geographically disparate workforce. It’s crucial that we keep people engaged, connected and happy, to help them be the best they can be.

6. Our approach to leadership
We know that our leaders are vital to our success. We place huge emphasis on making sure that they are well-equipped to lead us through both the good times and the uncertain times.

7. Looking after our people
With a comprehensive wellbeing programme, we support employees in both their physical and mental health. We’re here to help when things might not be going so well.

8. Credit where credit’s due
We review performance and pay regularly to make sure that our people are rewarded for all their hard work. We award bonuses each year for good performance, and offer a range of flexible benefits as part of the total reward package.
