MWC update: Sony Xperia X and XA

At Mobile World Congress 2016, Sony has revealed two new devices joining the Xperia family of phones: the Xperia X and the Xperia XA.

A premium-feel case and rounded glass front mean that these two new phones reflect Sony’s previous devices in terms of their pleasing, sleek aesthetic. While retaining a similar look and feel – and some of the same features – there are differences between them.

The Xperia X is perfect for those working on the go. It delivers a Full HD 5-inch display and front mounted stereo speakers for smooth conference calling and presenting when on the go. This is made easier by the Snapdragon 650 processor it has, supporting the fastest 4G bands available.

Other features of the Xperia X:

  • Fingerprint scanner
  • The latest 6.0 Marshmallow version of Android
  • 23-megapixel back camera with lightning fast autofocus
  • 13-megapixel front camera for high-res video conferencing

Sony’s Xperia XA carries much of the superior styling of the X. In addition, the device boasts a premium feel with edge-to-edge screen, metal frame and rich soft-touch back.

Both the X and the XA run Android, which bolsters their on-the-go capabilities, as you can download Office 365 from O2 Business, creating and editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint files wherever you are. Paired with other O2 Business applications like Box cloud storage, McAfee Multi Access and O2 Just Call Me, both Sony phones support a business suite of apps idea for those working remotely.

Finally (and perhaps most significantly), the Xperia X and XA introduce Qnovo, a new charging standard that supports fast charge times and excellent battery preservation. This means up to 800 charges before battery performance starts to wane – more than double today’s average. This will almost certainly attract those attending lengthy meetings and working away from their desk frequently.
