How your smartphone can offer even more security

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you’ll be no stranger to the digital world. You’re storing files on the cloud, you’re set up for remote working and you’re using all the latest apps. What’s more you’ll be doing this securely with software like McAfee Multi Access. But if you’d like to take security even further, here’s some clever tech that can help:

Amazon Canary

First up, the Amazon Canary is an unassuming, self-contained cylinder. It captures Full HD video at a 147° wide-angle, sends the footage to your smartphone and alerts you if there’s any suspicious activity.

Netgear Arlo

For a bit more money you can get two cameras with the Netgear Arlo. The base station hub of the Arlo connects to the internet and the two cameras are totally mobile. You can put them indoors or outdoors, they have no wires and stream 720p video directly to your phone. You can also add more cameras within 300 feet of the base station.

Swann One

Video surveillance is only one part of office security though. The Swann One gives you a base station and an indoor camera, as well as a smart plug, a motion sensor, two window or door sensors and two key fobs. This means you can switch your entire office on and off from your smartphone. The Swann One app also delivers more comprehensive alerts should you need them.

Samsung SmartThings

A more extensive, but potentially expensive system is Samsung SmartThings. An open source platform, SmartThings is a base station and a few accessories similar to the Swann One. But the clever part is that you don’t have to rely on Samsung for everything. You can connect a security camera from D-Link, a sound system from Sonos and a smart lock from Yale to create a bespoke, automated, connected office solution perfect for your security needs.
