Vegas baby! O2 picks up award at IBM Interconnect
by Lee Hargadon: Head of Enterprise Mobility, Telefónica UK
Usually, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Not this time. I wasn’t about to leave behind O2’s award for ‘Excellence in Managed Services’ presented to me by IBM’s Todd Bacon and Carola Cazenave, pictured below.
I was in Vegas for IBM Interconnect – THE global conference for all things Cloud and Mobile. 26,000 delegates get together in Las Vegas to network, present, demo, experiment and share. In other words, everyone gets to indulge their inner geek.
Picking up the award gave me a reason to celebrate, but also got me thinking about why O2 was recognised as an industry leader in Enterprise Managed Mobility (EMM), above other great organisations. If I had to pin it on something, I think it comes down to experience. We’ve being doing mobile for 30 years and we manage over 100,000 end points in the shape of devices, tablets and kiosks across a variety of operating systems. Ultimately, we know how to use technology to meet the needs of our customers.
But the mobility market changes constantly and keeping up isn’t easy. As specialists, my team and I work hard to maintain a deep understanding of mobile device management (MDM), devices, connectivity, apps, operating systems, software and complex ICT architecture. Combined, our team has over 150+ years of experience and can boast a variety of accreditations and qualifications that help us stay on top of our game.
Our partnerships play a part too. We support the leading EMM vendors including MaaS360 from IBM’s Mobile First Security suite. Our scale gives us deeper relationships with partners which equates to competitive pricing, tighter SLAs and dedicated technical support for when things go wrong. We also recognise that apps are increasingly critical in business processes and our partners Box and Chelsea Apps Factory manage content with a compelling user experience.
Lastly, you can’t forget service. As any CIO will tell you, mobile has gone beyond business critical. Some view connectivity as important as oxygen and although I might not go that far, our customers really count on us to keep their businesses operational.
So what about your organisation? How is mobility transforming the way you work? Are you fully equipped? Don’t struggle with mobility, there’s an award winner waiting to help! Just drop me a note on LinkedIn and I’ll be in touch.
