O2 and Go-Ahead on track to provide passengers with free wifi at 104 stations
O2 Wifi, a leading provider of public wifi, and Go-Ahead subsidiary company Govia Thameslink Railway, the UK’s busiest rail operator, today announce the roll out of O2 Wifi at 104 stations across the network. GTR operates the Thameslink, Southern, Gatwick Express and Great Northern services – ranging from King’s Lynn in the north to Brighton in the south – and O2 Wifi will give hundreds of thousands of customers access to free and secure wifi services every day.
Since its launch on 1st April, over 150,000 users have accessed O2 Wifi across the stations, a testament to how wifi connectivity is an increasingly intrinsic part of everyday life for consumers, especially at a time when smartphones are replacing other devices as the hub of their personal and work lives. And thanks to O2 Wifi, passengers can now seamlessly access free public wifi, meaning they can browse the latest news or entertainment or plan their journey while they wait.
Enrique Fernandez-Pino, Group IT and Strategy Director from The Go-Ahead Group said: “We are always looking for ways to take care of our passengers’ journeys, so offering wifi at people’s local stations allows them to enjoy free and fast internet access as they wait for their train service.”
